The transportation sector has experienced a notable uptick in job applications, with the construction and roading industry emerging as the highest-paying sector. This observation is based on the latest data from Trade Me Jobs, indicating an overall surge in New Zealanders seeking new employment opportunities.
Trade Me Jobs spokesperson, Patrick Cairns, highlights, "In January, we observed a 54% surge in total job applications compared to December, signaling a significant rise following the holiday period. This trend underscores the eagerness of Kiwis to embark on fresh career paths as they return from the holiday break."
Cairns further notes, "We also noted an increase in the number of job advertisements from month to month. However, there has been a slight decline in salaries, potentially attributed to the heightened levels of migration."
He anticipates a shift towards a more employer-centric job market this year, given the growing number of individuals in the country seeking employment opportunities. Consequently, Cairns advises job seekers to ensure that their job profiles and resumes stand out amidst increased competition for available roles.
